I got the internship!

Hello All!

My name is Serena and I’m an MPA with a focus on International Development.

Living in beautiful Southern California this summer, I have three goals:

  1. Work for an International Development Organization.
  2. Work no more than 40 hours a week.
  3. Go to the beach as much as I can.

I am happy to say that I am well on my way to accomplishing these goals!  Yesterday, I was invited to intern for the marketing, communications and development department at Direct Relief International in Santa Barbara, CA to increase capacity for their Planned Giving Strategy.

Also, I will  be working part-time for Habitat for Humanity Ventura County, putting together their Resource Development Plan.

I am struggling with my second goal, of working no more than 40 hours a week.  I am also the very-part-time Development Director for Habitat for Humanity Monterey County, and will be working remotely for them this summer.  I have a number of grants I’ll be working on for them this summer, and need to figure out when I’m going to write them.

But, my most important goal, spending as much time as possible at the beach, is well on its way to being accomplished.  I am spending the second week in June in Costa Rica, where I am looking forward to relaxing, drinking margarita’s on the beach, and hiking through rain forests.  I’ll be posting a lot of pictures!

    I have Male and female pug puppies. They are 12 weeks old. Both fawn, white and black. They have been home raised around children and other dogs. They are eating soft food and started on hard food. They have papers.
