2021 Undergraduate Fellow Spotlight: Sophia Poteet

Sophia Poteet is a senior at Boston University studying International Relations, with concentrations in foreign policy and security studies and the Middle East and North African region, as well as a minor in Muslim Societies. Her academic interests include multilateral treaties on nuclear weapons, gender and disarmament, and arms control in the Middle East. She expanded her interest in the humanitarian impacts of the nuclear industry as a research intern and nuclear ambassador with the Nuclear Sites Project at BU’s Global Decolonization Initiative this past academic year, where she researched nuclear sites in South Africa and Iraq. In her free time, she is a member of Boston University’s Mock Trial Team, a Dean’s Ambassador for the Pardee School of Global Studies, and a frequent visitor of the Boston Public Gardens.
