Students or professors, Monterey or Middlebury, old haunts are still the same.

Recent Graduate Yana Shkabrova (MACI ’19) with her mentors, also MIIS graduates, Alexander Vasiliev and Julia Mogilev during her five-week internship with Stanford Health Care. Yana interpreted remotely and in person and also worked on translations.

Two Russian TI graduates from the class of 2019 are in Moscow for work, and who should they be hanging out with but their former professors.

Apart from being a major economic and political event, where you bump into a minister, CEO, or celebrity journalist every way you turn, the SPIEF is a unique get-together for more than a hundred interpreters who work simultaneously and consecutively at panel discussions and closed-door meetings, and accompany high-level delegations. This year, as before, a few alumni from the MIIS Russian TI program were spotted in the diverse crowd of excellent interpreters invited to the event, as well as a current faculty member.
