IPSS Assignment: United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs – Geneva, Switzerland

Josh Childress is a master’s candidate in the Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies program at the Monterey Institute.  His areas of interest include U.S. nuclear fuel cycle policy, international nuclear safeguards and multilateral arms control negotiations.  While studying at MIIS, Josh has worked as a research assistant at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS).  He holds a M.A. in history from Virginia Commonwealth University and a B.A. from Virginia Tech, where he majored in both history and psychology.

Josh performed his IPSS assignment at the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) in Geneva, Switzerland.  At UNOG, he worked with the Conference on Disarmament Secretariat, and Implementation Support Units of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC) and Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW).

Upon returning to Monterey, Josh began a temporary assignment at the Center for Nonproliferation Studies. Following his assignment at CNS, he plans to pursue a career in nonproliferation and international security with the U.S. government.
