Who is Anna?

Anna McCloskey

My name is Anna and I am from beautiful Monterey, CA. I lived here with my family for my whole life up until I moved away for college. I did my undergraduate work at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois where I studied Anthropology, Spanish and Art History. My senior year I spent a semester studying abroad in Granada, Spain. It was one of many powerful experiences that lead me back home to the Monterey Institute of International Studies

Ultimately, I would like to work in the study and volunteer abroad field. I believe in immersive learning (the heart of study abroad) and the fact that we are able to influence the lives of others simply by being kind and sharing our gifts with the world. This is why I am here at the Institute studying International Education Management and Public Administration, working to combine the study aspects of international education and the social change aspects of international volunteerism.

I am thoroughly grateful for the many gifts I have been given, particularly that of education, and I look forward to this graduate experience and the many opportunities to come!

This blog was created for Comparative International Education, a course at the Monterey Institute, in which we study various educational structures around the world. Here I am exploring education in Nicaragua: it’s innovations, limitations, and everything in between. I encourage all viewers to add to our educational experience by commenting with questions, comments, suggestions, or anything else!

Enjoy!
