About the Glossary
MIIS Impact is a glossary of most commonly used terms in the field of impact investment. The glossary is in response to the fact that many words are loosely used in impact investment with varied and loose definitions, which can be confusing for those who are new to the field. This website seeks to not only create better understanding of the field, but also to note the major players who make up the ecosystem of impact investment.
Started by graduate students at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California, the website was built around terminology discussed in the colloquium course “Commercializing Impact Investment,” taught by Dr. Yuwei Shi.
