Our group will focus on the trends, needs, threats, and long-term strategies for the transportation sector on Lopez Island. We’re gathering information on the fuel supply and infrastructure, usage and ridership, and economic and environmental concerns for each mode of transportation on/to/from the island. This initial research into the current status and trends of the island’s transportation sector will provide meaningful context for the next stages of our group’s work: identifying some of the needs and threats that the island’s transportation system may encounter in the medium- to long-term. After identifying these needs and threats, we hope to empower Lopez Island residents with environmentally healthy, economically sustainable, and socially acceptable long-term strategies for the island’s transportation sector.
