END OF SILP BONFIRE–DEL MONTE BEACH AND CASA VERDE

Estimad@s estudiantes,

Esta semana, JUEVES EL 8 de AGOSTO, a las 5:00 en la playa Del Monte, donde la calle Casa Verde llega a la playa, para celebrar el fin del programa SILP, vamos a hacer una fogata con comida, música, salsa, y tantas risas como sonrisas. Vamos a tener comida preparada para la fogata y queremos que tod@s vosotr@s vengáis a disfrutar de este evento con nosotr@s.

This THURSDAY, AUGUST 8^th at 5:00pm at DEL MONTE BEACH (where Casa Verde Street meets the beach) we will be having our last bonfire with catered food, music, dancing, and laughs. We hope to see you there because we plan on making it a memorable event!

Happy Hour Thursday

Please come join us this Thursday, August 1, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at My Attic 1937 a beautiful, historic bar important to Monterey located at 414 Alvarado Street. We will serve some tapas and drinks will have a discounted price. This is one of the most impressive bars in the area, so please join us.

Talent Show Friday

El Viernes tenemos el “talent show”, y queremos que los estudiantes de español participen. Michelle y yo les podemos ayudar en esto. Cualquier pregunta, no duden en contactarnos. Sabemos que tienen muchos talentos, pues necesitamos que los estudiantes de español tengan una presencia fuerte en el escenario. Favor de contactarnos si tienen preguntas. Habrá comida y bebida para todos. Nos vemos entonces.

On Friday we have the Talent Show and we want Spanish students to
perform. Michelle and I are more than willing to help you with your acts. Please

Bonfire Thursday Afternoon/Fogata por la tarde el Jueves

Vamos a hacer una fogata en la Playa de Carmel el Jueves enfrente de 10th Street, por la tarde empezando a las 5:30; habrá comida–pueden llevar las bebidas que quieran. Esperamos verlos entonces, y favor de mandarnos un correo para cofirmar si pretenden asistir. Gracias.

Dear students, this week we will be having a bonfire in Carmel in front of 10th street Thursday, July 25 starting at 5:30pm. There will be food and you are welcome to bring beverages of your choice. Please rsvp by emailing one of us so we know how much food to buy. Thank you!

Karaoke

Estimados estudiantes, este miércoles el 17 de Junio a las 5:30 habrá un mini happy hour en Crown and Anchor, entonces a las 6:30 habrá karaoke en el DLC. Habrá tapas españolas para picar en el DLC. Os esperamos ver allí. Favor de mandarnos una confirmación via email si pretendes asistir. Gracias.

Dear students, this Wednesday the 17th of June at 5:30 pm there will be a mini happy hour in Crown and Anchor, and then karaoke night in the DLC at 6:30pm. Film night Thursday

Queridos estudiantes, este jueves el 18 de Junio a las 5:00 de la tarde en Morse B104 vamos a mostrar la película Volver, una peli española de Pedro Almodóvar, un director y cineasta legendario español, conocido por su hacer un cine que provoca el pensamiento con suspense psicológico. Habrá tapas españolas para comer. Os esperamos ver ahí.

Farmer’s Market tomorrow!

Mañana, martes el 9 de Julio a las 5:00 de la tarde, iremos al mercado granjero (farmer’s market) en la calle Alvarado en Monterey a practicar el español con los vendedores. Aprenderemos vocabulario, cómo pedir, y cómo hablar de precios y transacciones. Nos reuniremos en Samson justo antes de las 5 y vamos caminando al mercado.

Tomorrow, at 5:00pm we will meet at Samson and we will walk to the Farmer’s Market to practice speaking and financial transaction vocabulary in Spanish.

Fogata/Bonfire Del Monte Beach

Este miércoles el 3 de Julio a las 6:30 vamos a tener una fogata en la playa Del Monte muy cercana a MIIS. Nos reuniremos cerca del edificio donde alquilan canoas (kayaks) e iremos un poco hacia la derecha a encontrar un sitio chévere para la fogata. Favor de avisarnos por correo electrónico si vas a asistir para que sepamos cuánta comida comprar. Gracias, y os esperamos ahí. Si no os vemos ahí, Que paseéis feliz día de la independencia y muy buen fin de semana, también.

This Wednesday July 3 at 6:30pm we will have a bonfire on Del Monte Beach, close to MIIS. We will meet near the kayak rental building and walk toward the right to find a good spot for the bonfire. If you intend to come, please notify us by email so we know how much food to buy. Thank you, and we hope to see you there, otherwise have a great Fourth of July and a nice weekend.

NOTE: Please bring your own blanket and wear your own clothes. We will have marshmallows, hot dogs and soda. If you’d like to bring chips, food or more drinks, please bring them!

SILP BBQ/Barbacoa de SILP

This weekend, Saturday July 29th there will be a BBQ and potluck in Holland Center at 12:00 pm for all SILP students. Please come and enjoy varieties of delicious foods.

Una noticia importante para todos: Va a haber una barbacoa y (potluck) este sàbado, el 29 de Julio, a las 12:00, en Holland Center. Todos los estudiantes de SILP están invitados. Favor de venir y disfrutar de una variedad de comida deliciosa.
