To put our CAT knowledge into practice and help our client increase popularity, we launched a team translation project for Osio Theater Monterey to translate their English website content into Chinese by using SDL Trados Studio. We submitted our statement of work to outline preparation, production, and finalization processes, calculated costs based on Trados reports and held a kick-off meeting with our client. Finally, we delivered on time linguistic and tech prep files listed in our proposal, such as Translation Memory (TM), Termbase (TB), and pseudo translation. We have strengthened our skills of applying Trados to in-house translation projects.

- Import TB to a new project in Trados to check.
- Upgrade TM by merging all .tmx files and open it in Trados to check.
- Create TB in Excel: Convert an Excel spreadsheet with all the terms to SDLTB format by using GlossoryConverter, and then import it to a Trados termbase.
- Hide names and addresses in the source file and adjust the File Type Filter Settings in Trados Project Settings (exclude hidden content for translation) before conducting pseudo translation.
- Send project TM instead of main TM. Project TM is a subset that contains only the segments of the TM for either exact matches or fuzzy matches relevant to the translatable sources.
