Gary Horlick, a prominent and influential international trade lawyer will offer the final 2014 Global Problems and Solutions Colloquium guest lecture at the Institute on Monday, April 28 in MG102, 6-9pm.

This year’s Colloquium brought a host of influential leaders and practitioners to the MIIS campus. Guest speakers include former WTO Deputy Director General, Rufus Yerxa, former USTR, Demetrios Marantis, the former chief counsel to OFAC, MIIS alumni holding leadership positions in private sector trade relations, the former US Ambassador to Ukraine Steven Pifer, and world-renown political scientist, Francis Fukuyama. Each speaker offered expert insight in the field of Economic Diplomacy and Statecraft. Colloquium students gained a comprehensive understanding of many aspects of trade, ranging from tariffs and sanctions, to the private sector’s role in sustainable economic development.  They have been presented with differing and diverse perspectives on the global trading system. The variety of perspectives and dialog between students and speakers has provided a highly valuable opportunity for them to think critically about the challenges and opportunities of economic diplomacy.
