It seems somewhat early to identify what competencies modern day students will need to succeed in this century… after all, we’re only 12 years in. How soon before this set of competencies is completely revamped? Only 20 years ago students were studying in a completely different environment without internet or email. If we begin implementing new competency instruction should we do it while anticipating this same sort of curriculum revision every couple of decades or so?

Every college and university has a wide range/set of majors/classes offered. Why can’t we all just design our own majors and accumulate whatever skills we feel are necessary through the study of subjects that we’re interested in/relevant to future careers?
