Translation Management System: Final Portfolio

Course Introduction

In the Translation Management System (TMS) course, we explored WorldServer, Lingotek, XTM, three programs used to facilitate the translation and localization process.

Final Project Overview

In this semester, I joined a group of three other students to apply what we learned to a simulated translation project. We had a kick-off meeting with the client (the professor), used WorldServer as our TMS and translated the files, sent deliverables back to the client, and held a meeting to discuss the lessons learned.

Our team (Fortune Cookie LLC.) translated a news article detailing the history of Chinese food in America from English (the source language) to Simplified Chinese and Japanese (the target languages). We utilized TeamWeek as the timeline planner, SDL WorldServer as the TMS and Photoshop as the DTP (Desktop Publishing) software. More details of the project can be found in the final project assets.
