A Presentation of the China Factor Scenarios Development Project
China in the World Through 2030
Irvine Auditorium

Wednesday, 9 December 2009, 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.

China’s rising is among the top issues facing the world in the next decades, according to a recent poll of over 1100 international relations experts by the Foreign Policy journal. Understanding what chief uncertainties surround that issue and how they will shape China’s evolving roles on the world stage is a difficult and yet unavoidable task for anyone who is concerned about what the world will be like twenty years from now. This presentation tells over a dozen intriguing stories of China in the world through 2030. Together they paint for us a complex, thought provoking and unforgettable picture of the China that the world may love, hate, or doubt.

These stories are the product of the semester-long scenarios development project of the fall 2009 China Factor class involving about 40 young professionals across different cultures and countries. The project teams use the scenario development methods under the guidance of leading practitioners at the Global Business Network, the world’s best known firm in scenario planning.
This presentation is free and open to students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the Monterey Institute of International Studies.
