Prof. Gordon Hahn Is Appointed Senior Associate at CSIS

Gordon M. Hahn was recently appointed Senior Associate, Russia and Eurasia Program, at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.He has also published a CSIS report “Getting the Caucasus Emirate Right“  which covers the North Caucasus mujahedin’s alliance with Al Qa`ida and the global jihadi revolutionary movement and the distortions about the mujahedin and violence in the North Caucasus purveyed throught the U.S. mainbstream media, academia, and the analytical community.

Hahn’s e-journal ‘Islam, Islamism and Politics in Eurasia Report (IIPER) is moving from MIIS to CSIS. Hahn also lectured at a conference on Russian national security issues at the US Army War College’s Strategic Studies Studies Institute in Carlisle, PA on September 27th. His lecture on the Cacausus Emirate mujahedin was part of a panel on Russia’s jihadi-plagued North Caucasus.

Dr. Hahn is author of the well-received books, Russia’s Islamic Threat (Yale University Press, 2007) and Russia’s Revolution From Above, 1985-2000 (Transaction Publishers, 2002), and numerous articles in academic journals and other English and Russian language media.  He has taught at Boston, American, Stanford, San Jose State, and San Francisco State Universities and as a Fulbright Scholar at Saint Petersburg State University, Russia.  He has been a fellow at the Kennan Institute and the Hoover Institution.  Dr. Hahn writes and edits the bimonthly Islam, Islamism, and Politics in Eurasia Report for the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
