The Digital Learning Commons – Peer-to-peer Learning Consultant
The Graduate Assistant experience at the Monterey Institute helps students to work in an appropriate capacity alongside their studies. All positions are paid and flexibly scheduled.
In particular, I serve as the liaison between people and education technology. There are many barriers to computer literacy and I simply help clients to navigate the early digital and design thinking processes to creating meaningful projects. Sometimes it’s just a drop-in question about WordPress blogging, and other times it’s diagramming career options. Through this office I’ve consulted students and faculty, managed digital resources, created a promotional video for another department on campus, and even hosted TEDXMonterey 2014. It has been nearly 1-year with the most engaging employment I’ve ever had and it continues on into 2015.
