Social L10n & T9n Crowdsourcing Portfolio

In Spring 2016, my second semester at MIIS, I took the course Social Localization and Translation Crowdsourcing, which familiarized me with best practices in issues specific to social localization, community translation, and translation crowdsourcing, such as volunteer management and motivation, quality control, appropriate translation management technologies, and workflow combinations with machine translation and professional translation.

This page is a showcase of projects related to social localization and translation crowdsourcing that I completed over the semester .

  • A proposal for a translatathon as part of a volunteer translation crowdsourcing initiative for Operation Underground Railroad.

  • A blog post evaluating crowdsourcing in the Google Translate Community.

  • A blog post examining reactions to companies who have used translation crowdsourcing with a focus on LinkedIn

  • A group project consisting of a proposal (pdf) for Operation Underground Railroad to crowdsource the translation of their content, which was presented (pdf) in class.
