Description:   The overarching goal of the project is to provide local communities with economic incentives to restore and protect 450 hectares of mangrove forest and create a database of carbon stock evidence to support the decision making processes for mangrove protection in Rincón del Mar and beyond. Based on FAO methodology for carbon estimation and monitoring and the data collected thus far, this project will help to analyze and secure international partnerships for Blue Carbon funding. Furthermore, this project will accelerate practical action at the local level to clean up and restore the mangrove, while helping to build awareness around the importance of mangrove protection and conservation for the future.
